Crumbs Bakery

Everybody who is anybody with a true sweet tooth has probably heard of the famous New York bake shop called "Crumbs". It is the bakery of the stars and has been featured in several magazines, news broadcasts and TV shows. During the summer I convinced Charlie to drive me to his hometown of Glendale so I could see for myself what the hype was all about. Crumbs offers over 50 different cupcakes oozing with creamy filling and topped with a mountain of frosting in a unique and less boring variety of flavors ranging from $3.25-$3.95. . The difference between Crumbs and other bakeshops is their variety. Think about it, the "Courtney Cox" a subtle mint enriched vanilla cake. The "Chocolate covered strawberry" has a strawberry filling with a milk chocolate frosting drizzled with strawberry topping. . Treats ranging from watermelon, to raspberry, lemon, key lime pie, cotton candy, nestle crunch, fluffernutter, the tastes go on and on. If cup cakes are not your cup of tea try one of their delicious cookies or cakes. Crumbs has 5 locations in the Los Angles area, including Glendale, Santa Monica and Calabsas. If your one of the less fortunate who do not reside near a Crumbs bakeshop your in luck becuase they do deliver from their oven to your door, but it will cost you a pretty penny. For more information visit their website at http://www.crumbs.com/about/

Ice Cream Cupcake

I am sure many of you remember the ice cream cone cakes from the 80's. This was one of my all time favorite recipes growing up. There are several ways to make these fun filled treats. But the key thing is the frosting. Cant get lazy on this one people. The frosting has to look like icecream. Now how hard is it to make these treats? Its quite simple and fun all you do is prepare your favorite flavor cake mix as directed. You can bake them inside the cones, or you can bake them in the traditional paper cups then insert them into the icecream cone after they cool, Frost, top with colorful sprinkles or candies and Voila. You can also fill the bottom of the icecream cones with M&M's for an extra sugary kick.

Claim Jumper Red Velvet Cupcake

Claim Jumper is a family style chain restaurant that can please just about anyone. Those of you with a sweet tooth know exactly what I am talking about when I mention two words "dessert menu." One of their signature treats is the "Chocolate Motherload Cake" which is a Ginormous 6 layer chocolate cake with layers after layers of chocolate fudge frosting and lots of walnuts with a price tag of $9.99. This may seem a high price to pay into your chocolate craving but it is well worth the extra cash. But I am more of a cupcake kind of gal and I am not one for sharing, and this motherload cake is impossible to finish on your own. A newer treat Claim Jumper offers is their "Red Velvet" cupcake. Is it really a treat? Well, it is a lightly flavored chocolate cake with red dye topped with their version of a vanilla bean frosting. I was not impressed. But I decided to give it another try a couple of months later, and still not impressed. After having a red velvet cupcake from Sprinkles I am hard to please in the cupcake department. This cake was somewhat dry and disappointing. If your going to go for dessert stick with a no-fail treat, "The Chocolate Mother Load cake." Just be willing to share. However if you have never had a red velvet cupcake you may want to make one on your own. Try Better Crocker and use the homestyle cream cheese frosting.

Sams club has amazing cupcakes

Sams club or Costco that is the question. Costco has been around much longer than Sams club and people are obviously more familiar with Costco and may not want to make the switch over. But let me tell you a little secret. Sam's club has an amazing bakery that blows Costco away. Now, I have not been to Costco since my membership expired three years ago and at this point I dont think I will go back. Why? Well obviously it is the bakery at Sam's club. For under $15 you can order 30 cupcakes. These are not your ordinary cupcakes these are delicious little cakes over flowing with sweet buttercream frosting or chocolate frosting. Perfect for classroom parties, birthdays, weddings, BBQ's ect. For no additional cost one can order the Princess cupcakes topped with a ring, Cars cupcakes with a decoration. Now, lets say your not a cupcake sort of guy or gal, then check out their cakes. For the superhero in you, you can pick up a Transformers cake or Spiderman cupcakes. They even fave football cakes perfect for Fantasy football or the super bowl. Other options include; Dora, Elmo, Spongebob, Hello Kitty, and Hannah Montana. For those on a budget this is the best deal I have found.
